What year was Gildersleeve Mountain founded?

It was never "founded" It is named for S.A.Gildersleeve who owned the land beginning around 1808. Gildersleeve Mountain is the traditional name for this feature among residents of Kirtland, Ohio. Some institutions have attempted to impose new names but the official USGS name for the feature is Gildersleeve Mountain.

Gildersleeve Mountain was never clear cut and so in the early 20th century the mature mixed Oak forest on the NE slope was considered important for preservation and attracted conservation efforts by some very early environmentalists
