It is unclear when Arabian Arabs first came into their own as a unique ethnicity. The Old Testament refers to Arabs only at its tail end, which means that Arabs existed from at least 300 B.C.E. However, because most Arab tradition was oral in their earlier period, we lack documentation that would push it back further. (Babylonian, Assyrian, and Persian records do not discuss Arabs at all in this timeframe.)
