The dates of the arrival of horses among the various tribes were never recorded and can only be estimated.

Being one of the southern North American tribes they would have been among the first to see, adopt and ride horses soon after 1680 (the time of the Pueblo revolt); if they were the "Gattakas" mentioned by La Salle in 1682 they had horses at that time. If the Gattakas were Kiowa-Apaches then the Kiowas would have had horses very shortly after that date, since the two tribes were extremely closely linked.
