It did so in 1777 and remained one until it joined the Union in 1791.
Ireland had been conquered by England in a series of wars from 1536-1607. It freed itself from English rule in 1921, following the Irish War of Independence, and became the Irish Free State. In 1937, Ireland left the British Commonwealth and became the Republic of Ireland.
China itself is just a region. The countries are the People's Republic of China and, if you agree, the Republic of China (Taiwan).

The official answer to this is 1949, but the separation was more of an evolution. The land which makes up Ireland was partitioned on 3 May 1921. In 1922 the Irish Free State was made a dominion within the British Commonwealth, which came with a previously unrealized level of sovereignty. A new constitution in 1937 renamed the state as Ireland, and it began operating with increasing separation from the Commonwealth. In 1949 it became a completely sovereign nation, separate from both England and Wales. The treaty was signed by the British Government and Irish envoys on December 6th 1921 but was only enacted when it was ratified by the Parliaments of both countries in line with the treaty and received Royal assent on 6th December 1922founding the Irish Free State. It was founded as an autonomous dominion similar to Canada within the British Empire. Northern Ireland exercised it's option to withdraw from the state. It put a new constitution in place in 1937 also changing the name to Eire or Ireland in English and declared itself a republic in 1949 withdrawing formally from the British Commonwealth.1922In 1921 .

Because (like every other Commonwealth country) we used to be a British colony
Panama is a former Spanish colony, until independence in 1821. Guyana was never a Spanish colony. Apart from the indigenous Amerindian people, it was first settled by the Dutch, and became a British colony in 1831, known as British Guiana. British Guaina became the independent country Guyana in 1966, and declared itself a republic in 1970. It is still a member of the Commonwealth of Nations (also known as the British Commonwealth).
No, the USA does not style itself a commonwealth, although the term commonwealth is sometimes used as a synonym for the term republic. Four of the states of the USA and two of its territories style themselves as Commonwealths..
Technically, the British didn't. American history after the revolution was distorted as the new free Americans destroyed British documents in America. However the historic documents still exist as evidence here in England itself. The troops used to fight against the American Revolution all belonged to the British Commonwealth. The British Commonwealth (then known as the British Empire) is lead by the Monarch of Britain (currently Queen Elizabeth 2nd). Amongst the powers the head of the commonwealth has, is the authority to command troops which belong to another country, which is a member of the British Commonwealth. "Hired" is the wrong word. The troops were under the direct authority of the British Monarchy, they belonged to the British Commonwealth (British Empire back in those days). Even today, the Head of the British Commonwealth (the serving Monarch in England) still has authority over military assets in countries who are members of the Commonwealth.
Missoouri does NOT style itself a commonwealth.
I assume its because we left the commonwealth itself.

New Zealand didn't leave the British Empire, the Empire itself was dissolved through a number of changes following World War II. The Commonwealth of Nations is the successor to the Empire, albeit it is a voluntary organisation. New Zealand is a member of the Commonwealth.
The Commonwealth of Nations is a voluntary association of countries most of whom were formerly part of the British empire. The most prominent of these, apart from Britain itself, are Canada, Australia, India, Pakistan and New Zealand, but the Commonwealth also includes a number of African, South-East Asian and Caribbean states. Some countries, like Mozambique, have no connection with the British Empire.
The Jewish communities on the coastal area of historic Palestine declared a state for them to protect themselves after the British Mandate on Palestine ended. .
