You can buy a OBD2 compliant scanner online from a company called Innova. These scanners are capable of reading all car codes on every vehicle sold in the US after, I believe, 1998. The model is Equus 3030. It worked fine on my Volvo S80. I was able to read the problem codes and reset the check engine light.
89 Volvo is R12(Freon).You need to go to a qualified tech to have it checked.A good idea is to have it converted to R134(have to have old R12 vacummed out first, and change charging valve)then you can refill yourself.but be aware, that the valve is behind the compressor, and not easy to get to.

Most Harely owners remove these as soon as the get dirty or to lower their bikes cheap and plentiful. The ones I purchased were for a 2004-05 XL model with 13.5 eyelet to eyelet measurement. Most motor cycle shocks that measurer 13.5 to 14.5 would work as long as they have eyelets on each end. This raised my rear end up by a little over 1.75 inches. The Harely have a little larger eyelet opening than most Asian cycles but they still could be used. I dont know if this is what you are looking for, but the obd scanner hook up is in between the two front seats. There is a small cover and then just plug it in.
To reset the SRS airbag light on a Volvo S60, you typically need to use an OBD-II scanner that can read and clear airbag codes. First, connect the scanner to the vehicle's OBD-II port, usually located under the dashboard. After retrieving any fault codes and addressing any underlying issues, you can clear the codes to reset the airbag light. If you don't have access to a scanner, it's best to consult a professional mechanic or a Volvo dealership for assistance.
it means you can appear the obd code problem, and the obd2 scanner can help you solve this problem.
youll need either an obd2 scanner in later cars or obd1 on board on the cars computer. obd stands for on board diagnostics. this runs codes for things that computer senses are bad or going bad. take it to autoparts stores for the obd2. best to buy a manual or chiltons / haynes manual to help with repairs.
It means you need to hook up to a computer with the Volvo software and pull codes.
The check engine light (service engine soon) comes on and stays on when a problem is detected by the self diagnosis system of your vehicle. Generally, the problem is in the emissions or something that is affecting the effectiveness of the emissions, but other causes can trigger the light to come on, too. To determine the cause, the vehicle will need to be taken to AutoZone or a shop that has an OBD2 scanner, or for 1995 and earlier models, an OBD1 scanner, While a scanner will not give you the magic answer, it will give you a code that narrows down the problem area. auto zone does not have the obd2 scanner to check this ar out 1997 850 Volvo
YOU WILL NEED AN OBD II SCANNER AND THE LOCATION OF THE PLUG IS IN THE CENTER CONSOLE.(FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF CENTER CONSOLE)
On my scanner it came up with PO740 : Torque convertor clutch circut / open I believe it may be a low pressure problem, but don't quote me.
The obd2 connection is located right above the gear shifter. There is a cover that looks like a coin holder that pulls up and the connector is under it.
You will need to go to a dealer or a repair facility that has the Volvo Vida diagnostic computer with the Dice interface. A average diagnostic tool cannot access the SRS codes.
You need an OBD scanner or take it to your local Auto Parts store. Stores like Advance auto parts can usually read codes for you. The generic codes they read out can be converted to Volvo's OBD codes. The generic codes usually start with the letter P.
It is located on the firewall in the passenger's footwell. You have to remove the trim panel under the dashboard to see it.
