NO: the New Deal was a stimulus package that was put into effect during the Great Depression.
Full scale depression. Definitely no second term for Obama. Probably Republican majority elected to Congress.
In February 2009, the U.S. was in the midst of the Great Recession, and President Barack Obama signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act into law on February 17. This $787 billion economic stimulus package aimed to create jobs and spur economic growth through infrastructure spending and tax cuts. Additionally, the financial crisis continued to affect global markets, leading to increased unemployment and significant challenges for various industries.
Obama's stimulus plan is a "statist" government program that borrows trillions of dollars and spends it according to the dictates of politicians and bureaucrats. At it's heart is the "Keynesian economic theory" which postulates that government spending can improve the OVERALL economy. In a brilliant piece by French economist and philosopher Frederic Bastiat (1850) entitled "That Which is Seen, and That Which is Not Seen" (available free online) Bastiat destroys many false economic theories (even Keynesian economics, which was developed later in the 20th Century). The basic economic error that Obama and others make is looking at the good things resulting from the government spending...while ignoring the fact that the money was taken from productive activities (or borrowed against future activities)...or as economists would say..."the unseen".
American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan.
First, a stimulus package is not a gift, like you would receive in the mail. It refers to financial assistance given by a president and a congress to help ("stimulate") the economy in a difficult time. Many presidents have done this. President Obama's stimulus package resulted in saving thousands of American jobs. And although some people believe it should have been bigger (and his political opponents claim it did not help at all), most economic experts from both parties agree that it did help to turn the economy around. I enclose a link that debunks the claim that the stimulus did not help anyone.
President Obama is coming up with a new stimulus package to help with unemployment. The Government is constantly coming up with new plans to help the economy.

Obama was very popular during his first 100 days as president in 2009. He introduced an economic stimulus package, including the 'cash for clunkers' program.
