Christopher Columbus and his crew arrived in the Bahamas on October 12, 1492, landing on an island he named San Salvador. This marked the first encounter between Europeans and the Americas, although Columbus believed he had reached the East Indies. His voyages eventually led him to other islands in the Caribbean, including Cuba and Hispaniola.

The Taino people hated Christopher Columbus. They hated him because when he arrive, he too them as slaves, and forced them to guide his people around, and killed a lot of them in the process. When he left to tell his king, the Taino people killed his men out of fear. This made Columbus even meaner to them.Hoped this helped!
