General George Armstrong Custer was born in New Rumley, Ohio, in 1839. Throughout his life, he lived in various locations due to his military career, including West Point, New York, where he attended the United States Military Academy. He is most famously associated with the American West, particularly during his time in the 7th Cavalry, where he spent significant time in places like Kansas and Montana. Custer's life ended in 1876 at the Battle of Little Bighorn in present-day Montana.
To name a few of the most common: Union-Gen. Grant, Sherman, Custer (Brevet), Admiral Farragut; Confederate-Gen. Lee, Pickett, Jackson, Beauregard, Admiral Semmes (cdr of CSC Alabama).
After Custer's defeat at the Battle of Little Big Horn, the Indian women used their sewing needles in an attempt to "clear" Custer's ears so he would hear better in the next life. (The Indians did not want to fight, but Custer didn't listen...them's the brakes.)
George Armstrong Custer married Elizabeth Bacon on February 9, 1864. Their marriage took place during the Civil War, shortly before Custer gained prominence as a cavalry officer. Elizabeth became a significant part of Custer's life and legacy, often accompanying him during his military campaigns.
Custer's Revenge happened in 2600.
There is no conclusive evidence of how Custer died. Some historians suggest he was killed by the Indians, others say by his own men and still others say by his own hand. He was left untouched after death.
