After 1924, immigrants landed at the piers in New York. They received their Visas for Immigration before leaving their countries of origin, so there was no longer a need for central immigrant inspection stations at ports of entry. However, the vessels, and later the airplanes, were still required to create and file passenger lists. Those are preserved in the National Archives microfilms of the Passenger Lists of Passengers Arriving at the Port of New York.
