The first location that Japan struck during WWII was Pearl Harbor, on December 8, 1941 at 2:48am Japan Time (December 7, 7:48am Hawaii Time.) Later that day, Japan also invaded Thailand and Malaya. Most historians agree that WWII started with Pearl Harbor. However, some historians will even say WWII started in 1937 - when Japan fought China during the Second Sino-Japanese War. Or, even further back as 1931 when Japan invaded Manchuria. So, it really depends on when you think WWII started. But, it is a safe bet that Pearl Harbor is the right answer.
