It is generally believed the Native American Peoples are descended from those who migrated from northeastern regions of Europe Asia (Siberia is not in Europe) such as Siberia, across a land bridge and into Alaska. From there, they worked their way steadily south through what is now Canada, the US and Central American, into South American. This might have occurred sometime between 20,000 and 10,000 years ago, during one of the great ice ages, which would have locked up enough water in the polar ice caps to lower the sea level (and expose the land bridge - referred to as the Bearing Strait) which is now only visible as the chain of Aleutian Islands.
Other people who might have arrived in American before 1492 are the Vikings, who established a short lived colony in Newfoundland - which they called "Vinland"), as well as Chinese Explorers, during an unusual period of exploration undertaken just prior to Columbus' series of voyages (although this is not thought to be confirmed or accepted historical fact). However, by this time, the Native Americans would have been firmly established.
