The Yaqui Indians traditionally lived from the Rio Yaqui in Mexico up into what is now the Southwestern US.

On first contact with the Spanish it is thought there were about 30,000 people in about 80 towns in the area around Rio Yaqui.

Today there are about 15,000-20,000 in the Mexican States of Sonora and Sinaloa.

The are about 11,000 in the US with a reservation near Tuscon, AZ. The reservation has about 1000 acres and a population of about 3000. They also live across the US especially in southern California, today
