Its Welsh and English. Very briefly it ended up in Wales when the Romans pushed the Celts over the border. There are several origins of the name. During the Catholic persecution of protestants in France, when many fled for their lives, people with the name Bibbeau went to either the colonies, America, or Wales. In Wales the name became Bibb after people were ordered to take a surname in celebration of the Kings marriage to Isabella, a German princess. So their origins are French but the Bibb name was in the midlands for centuries. I personally can prove my tree back to 1689 and a Richard Bibb. After that I am lost but still working on it. In Stourport, once part of Wales, there is an old cemetery that contains many gravestone with the name Bibb on them. That's my next stop.
