While filming "The Alamo," John Wayne stayed at the Alamo Village, a set built specifically for the movie in Brackettville, Texas. This location served as both the filming site and a temporary residence for the cast and crew. The set was designed to replicate the historic Alamo and became a popular tourist attraction after the film's release.
John Wayne produced, directed, and starred in (and partially funded) the 1960 movie about the Alamo.
There is no historical record of a John Stroud being present at the Battle of the Alamo in 1836. The names of the known defenders of the Alamo are well-documented, and John Stroud is not among them. It is possible that there may have been individuals present whose names were not recorded, but there is no verifiable evidence to support the existence of a John Stroud at the Alamo during that time.
The last individual killed by John Wayne in the movie The Alamo was an unnamed Mexican soldier that he hit over the head with a torch immediately before he blew up the powder magazine.

Bracketville texas
There was a recreation of the Alamo and a small version of the town of San Antonio built on the Happy Shahan Ranch whish is about 9 miles north of Bracketsville Texas on the road that goes to another town called Rock Springs. Bracketsville is also the home of the real Fort Clark and has been used for other movie sets. Most of the scenes of the Alamo were filmed on this Alamo recreation and it can still be toured today. Most of the actors stayed in Del Rio hotels during filming.
