I think you must be referring to the war between Iran and Iraq, which was between 1980-88. However, while Iraq is an Arab country, Iran is a Persian country. They are both Islamic nations though. Both are majority Shi'ite Muslim.
Iraq was trying to acquire the oil-rich Iranian province of Khuzestan which has an Arab ethnic majority. Iran invaded Iraq in response with no particular piece of land in mind.
The US Civil War was fought against itself (brother against brother). The country of Israel fought other countries, unrelated to them.

There are no two Arab countries that were at war from 1980-1988. However, the question is likely referring to Iraq and Iran which did go to war during that exact period. The only thing is that Iran is not an Arab State. Iranians are majority-Persian.

There is no Arab country that crosses the equator. Somalia is a member of the Arab League and crosses the equator, but its people are Somalis, not Arabs.
