Another important reason too, is the fact that the Makkah leaders were Idol Worshippers thus they did not like Mohamed (peace be upon him) as he was inviting people to worship one unique divine all perfect God (Allah). Also, Mohamed showed the inperfection and helplessness of the Idols same as his great father, prophet Ibraham, showed during his time that the Idols are helpless and can not benifit or harm or have no control over human lives.
