No, not really, submarines were first used successfully in the Civil War.
52 US submarines were lost in WW2. This was about 1 in every 5 submarines that the US had in WW2
That airplanes, submarines, and automobile engines would be invented.
Although NOT invented during WWII. The airplane carrying submarines (Japanese Submarines), the aircraft carriers, oxygen fuelled torpedos (Long Lance Torpedos), and manned flying missiles (Baka bombs) were used for the first time in warfare.

Yes, submarines were used by the Confederate Navy in the US Civil War.
World War I submarines were primarily used to locate and attack surface cargo and warships.
Submarines were sometimes referred to as submersibles.
Argentina had diesel-electric submarines while the British had nuclear-powered submarines.
Many warships were invented during the US Civil War. Coming immediately to mind are the Merrimack and the Monitor, both early armoured warships. Also the David and the Hunley, early submarines built for the Confederate Navy.
The first submarines were seen in Germany around the time of WW2 and they were placed in the English channel. The rest of the world had not seen submarines and because all of the supplies went across the English channel they could not understand why all their ships were sinking. The Germans invented them for war but they are more commonly used for deep sea exploration. When the Germans invented submarines they also had to invent things like underwater radar so they could see where they were going. I hope I have helped
