Elsewhere, the answer is given as Martha Washington who was on the 1902 8 cent stamp. Maybe the difference in the answer stems from 'which woman appears on her own' because Queen Isabella, which is the most common answer, is paired with Christopher Columbus.
The US Philatelic Society says that the first female figure to appear on a US postage stamp was a portrayal of the Statue of Liberty in 1873, so there's a range of answers depending on the question!
