Hi Calke abbey was once owned by the harpur family then in1808 the name chanced to crewe then later stil harpur crewe, When Charles jenney inherated he chanced his name to harpur-crewe

calke abbey as far as am aware as a room steward there its now owned by the national trust. Who help save calke abbey in 1984/5.

There is a donor flat inside Calke Abbey which Henry harpur-crewe lived in until he died in 1991. then his sister Airmyne but she also lived in the other house in warslow derbyshire, Airmyne would only come and visit Calke Abbey as she had bad artitus from a riding accident in the 1940s.

When Airmyne died in 1999, the flat went to a very distant cousin Andrew Johnson. He can stay in the flat until he dies but when he does noone is alound to any more as when the Trust took overit was written somewhere that this would hapopen and at the moment Mr Johnson is in his 80s and does not visit much. When his family come over after this death they can stay in the village of ticknall.

Hope this answers your Question

Why not visit Calke Abbey and ask one of the many stewards

Sorry for the bad spelling
