Blanca Rosenberg was a young Polish woman who escaped from the Kolamyja ghetto in 1942 and lived subsequently in Warsaw, Poland and Mannheim, Germany under false identity. She was professor of social work at Columbia University, 1965-1979. Rosenberg published a memoir of her wartime experiences entitled "To Tell at Last" (1984, German translation 1987). When she died, the NY Times obituary began with the sentence, "They were the Thelma and Louise of Nazi occupied Poland".
