It is a common misconception that Hatshepsut was the first female pharaoh. Historians know now that there were female pharaohs before her.

Meretseger, wife of Senusret III of the 12th dynasty of the Egyptian middle kingdom is the first known queen of egypt, though clearly she was not actually the first since most/all previous pharoahs of dynasties 1-11 must have had queens.

hatschepsut was one of the first woman in ancient Egypt to rule and become king while she was dressed up as a man. she was not the first king/queen though:(
