Johnny Burgoyne was one of three soldiers sent from the British to 'Divide and Conquer' the New England Colonies from the rest of the colonies. Because the other two generals failed in their mission to rendevous with Burgoyne in Albany, NY, everything went wrong with Britains plan. Burgoyne took his time getting to Albany, walking about .5-1 mile a day. Since the Americans got message the he was coming, they built earthen works fortification to block his path. When Burgoyne reached the Americans, he retreated to a former army camp. There, there were attacked by the Americans who followed them and surrendered.
