Who was the first person that suggested or proposed the name of Mahatma Gandhi as Father of The Nation?

Jawahar Lal Nehru. Nehru was a very shrewed politician. With his personal background, he could not fit into Indian politics. He needed a person to protect his image and for that he chose Mohan Das Gandhi. It was a political compromise after Gandhi returned from South Africa after his failures and acquired a naked fakir image. Gandhi became his protector and due to his saintly attitude always helped Nehru whether he was right or wrong . So when an opportunity came in one of the initial meetings of the Constitutional assembly of India he put these words 'father of the nation' in one of his resolutions and the word got acceptance. This way he returned the Bapu's Blessings and paid back the favors he had been receiving for his personal political goals.

In a broadcast by" Azad Hind Radio" from Singapore on July6,1944. Boss addressed Mahatma Gandhi as the "Father Of The Nation". This was first time Mahatma Gandhi was reffered to by this appellation. By Dr. Ram Dutt Shokeen.
