James Madison took all of the notes for the constitutional convention and is called the "Father of the Constitution" because of it, but 55 men were involved in the writing of the laws, articles, and amendments of the constitution itself, so no one man wrote it. Madison was also involved in the Virginia Plan, but again he didn't "write" it himself.
We actually call him Father of the Constitution, and that's because he was the main drafter of the Virginia Plan (and a lot of its resolves were adopted into our Constitution), greatly influenced the shape of the Constitution at the Convention, wrote 1/3 of the Federalist Papers, wrote the Bill of Rights, and served as an authority on it.

Madison, wrote the Virginia Plan, the basis for the U.S. Constitution, he wrote 29 of the 85 Federalsit papers, political-advertisement for the Constitution, and he wrote the Bill of Rights, which protects our rights.
When the Virginia Plan and New Jersey plan were written, there were major differences. So Connecticut put the two together which helped form the Constitution.
