the native people feed them , for a time and taught them how to farm the rocky soil. this soil is different than other places on earth. they also gave them gifts of blankets and hides in the winter so they would not freeze.

then when the settlers learned what they could they started to encroach on indian farms, they got live stock from Europe and turn them lose . these ate the crops os the native people and their pigs destroyed the clam beds they cultivated in streams and befouled their drinking water. the pigs and cows and chickens spread diseases to people and wildlife that the indians depended on for meat.

Europeans started the scalping , they put a bounty on the scalps of men women and children.so it became an enterprise od murdering the very people who saved them from starvation for profit.

they also kidnapped women , children and men and sold them as slaves to the english slave traders.

the history books mentioned by What his face who answered you question were written by a bunch of bigots in an attempt to hide their crimes against humanity from future generations .

Would you have helped the Colonists if you had been a member of the Powhatan confederacy Why or why not?

Basically, it's your choice since it's a opinion question. Just to help out others, i would write if yes: Yes, i would have helped the colonists if i was a member of the Powhatan Confederacy because you might need the Powhatan at times, like when disease struck Jamestown. if no: No, i wouldn't have helped the colonists if i was a member of the Powhatan Confederacy because i wouldn't want the colonists taking up land that should be ours!
