For many years there were groups of women in the United States that lobbied for the right of women to have voting rights. Outstanding members of suffrage movement were Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Stanton as example.

This was a very long struggle in the USA. Finally in 1919 Congress amended the US Constitution to give women the vote. It took affect in 1920 and politics have never been the same.
