Why Indira use Gandhi title?

Indira was Nehru's daughter, who was the first prime minister of India and also one of Gandhi's best friends. Indira didn't "use Gandhi as a title" though, she married a man named Feroze Gandhi, who died of complications from a heart attack. He died before she became a prominent political leader though, which is why many don't know that Gandhi is actually her married name.
