The United States carpet industry began in 1791, but woven floor coverings have been around since at least 7000 BC.

Marble or a mixture of marble and pophyry was used for floors of housed of the rich and public builing and often had mosaics on them. The floor in the apartments of the poor were in wood or concrete. Local stones, marble or granite were used for colums
It's made from bricks, concrete, and has a stone covering on the outside. It was covered in marble, and had numerous statues. The arena had a canvas roof which sailors would pull across on wet days. Unfortunately the marble was pillaged in the last hundred years or so by residents of Rome to beautify their own mansions.
Sometimes; but they hung them on the walls to keep out draughts and damp. The floor, they covered with rushes. After all, carpet cleaners had not been invented yet.
Well, honey, it's simple science. Marble is a dense material that absorbs and retains heat, making it feel hotter to the touch. Meanwhile, carpet acts as insulation, keeping the floor cooler by trapping air and preventing heat transfer. So, next time you're dancing on that marble floor in the summer, just remember to bring your flip flops.
A marble floor feels hotter in summer than a carpeted floor because marble conducts heat. Since the heat gets trapped, it travels to the rest of floor raising the temperature. Carpet does not conduct much heat due to tiny holes that allow air ventilation.
The marble is really good at conducting heat away from your hand but because the carpet isn't as dense and has lots of air between the fibres it is not a very good heat conductor. Because the marble is a goodheat conductor it cools down your feet quickly and so they feel colder but the carpet cannot cool down your feet. An interesting experiment to try is to get three bowls and put hot water in one, cold water in another and a 50:50 mix of hot and cold in the third. Put one hand in the hot water and the other hand in the cold water for 20 seconds and then put them both into to third bowl. Try it but be careful that the water isn't too hot.
A fitted carpet means that the carpet covers the whole of the floor area. An underlay may be laid first and the carpet laid on top. The carpet is not attached to the floor.
No, acetone will etch marble.
We decided to do a carpet design in the playroom using carpet squares. What is the best way to install carpet squares on a cement floor?
No, one does not need to use special cleaning techniques to clean a marble floor. Cleaning a marble floor can be done just like cleaning every other type of floor.
The best techniques for effectively cleaning a marble floor using a marble floor cleaner are to first sweep or vacuum the floor to remove any debris, then dilute the cleaner according to the instructions on the bottle. Next, mop the floor with the cleaner, making sure to wring out the mop well to avoid excess water on the marble. Finally, dry the floor with a clean, dry cloth to prevent streaks or water spots.
Carpet is sometimes nailed to the floor.

Answer Difficult to judge from here. If the adhesive was brown it may have penetrated the marble you need to grind the marble and use hydrogen peroxide. A treatment only for VERY experienced professionals. If the marble has been wet for a few days, there is probably also some rust the stone. Marble may contain pyrite (fools gold, iron ore). Suggest you ask a marble restorer to have a look. Check the yellow pages "granite" or "marble" or "natural stone"
