Why did American Revolution start?

Because the British and the colonists were fighting against the French in the seven years war, and they were in debt. They began taxing the colonists to get out of debt. The colonists thought this was unfair, and mutinied.

The American Revolution stemmed from a disagreement with the British demanding the colonies to pay taxes. After the colonists declined to do so, the British sent military forces to America and colonist became outraged as result. A skirmish in Boston with citizens and British forces ensued, and therefore led to war.

The thirteen colonies rejected the authority of Great Britain to govern them because they had no representation in the British Parliament. The colonies expelled all royal officials in 1774 and each each formed governmental institutions to govern themselves, but still considered themselves part of the British empire. The British sent troops to re-impose direct rule, so the colonies joined together (United States) to defend their respective self-governance and manage the colonial soldiers fighting against the British troops. Finally, all the colonies decided that the British monarchy, through its acts of tyranny, no longer had a legitimate claim to their allegiance. They severed ties with the empire on July 4th, 1776, when the Continental Congress issued the Declaration of Independence. The war ended in 1781 with an American victory. The Treaty of Paris in 1783 formally acknowledge the end of any British claims to the United States.
