People left Massachusetts to get to New Hampshire because they were looking for freedom and better farmland. The freedom they were looking for was to get better farm land. In Massachusetts they gave all the good land to the rich, and all the not so good land ended up with the poor. So the people who left wanted better farm land so they separated to find it.
