Why were Germany Italy and Japan involved in World War 2?

The Austrian Govt didn't want to give up power to Adolf Hitler and Germany. Hitler correctly believed though that once Austria was "Annexed" the people would throw their support behind Germany and the Austrian Govt would have no choice but to surrender power. Hitler needed Austria so that he could secure his border and for the excellent Austrian soldiers that Germany could use (For example, most of Germanys mountain troops came from the Austrian Military). Benito though, brought Italy into the war, without a second thought. He had visions of a new Roman Empire that rivaled Hitlers visions. Italy though was unprepared for war and an embarrasment to Germanys Alliance.

Fascist Italy joined the side of Germany during WWII due to a variety of reasons, the largest being that Mussolini's government saw Hitler as someone who would undoubtedly win the War, and someone whose friends would, no doubt, share in some of the riches acquired through victory. Basically, it was about money and land.

Yes there was many reasons. One reason was that Hitler and the German's advanced Italy's technology. They did the same thing they did with Japan They advanced them so far and helped them in every way possible In return they had to mange their front. For example Italy was supposed to mange the African front but in the end German forces where sent there to back up the Italian forces. But in the end they still lost that front. Japan was supposed to mange the American's and that front. They held out longer then the Germans but still fell.

Fascist Italy counted on Germany's military power to help them re-establish a sphere of influence in the Mediterranean Sea. Mussolini had dreams of a new "roman empire".
