Japanese army attacks SiberiaThey did in the far east, but in light of all of the following battles and various other theatres of the war it was not as dramatic or spectacular. Most of the fighting took place around a river called the Kholkin Gol(not sure on spelling) this was the name for the Russians the name for the Japanese was different don't know what it is. It is of note though that the Japanese high command called off all hostilites after Gen.zhuikov arrived and whipped the Far East Command into his vision and others like him in to the juggernaut they later would become. Through his implimentation of joint strike style ie(artillery, armor, infantry, and air power) he stopped all advances of the Japanese army in the far east district. It is in my own opinion that Zhuikov`s changes in the Far East Command later changed the tide of the battle at Stalingrad in which these same soldiers are the ones to eventually participated in the capture and destruction of the German 6th army.

Which of the following do many historians consider to be Hitler's biggest mistake in world war 2?

Declaring war on the USA after Japan declared war on America. Germany declared war on America hoping Japan would declare war on Russia. Since Japan did not declare war on Russia (Russia would later declare war on Japan), Germany did not have to declare on America. If Germany had not declared war on the USA, America would have difficulty in declaring war on Germany (although USA and Germany naval vessels in the North Atlantic were shooting at one another in 1941). If Germany had not declared war on the USA, then Hitler would not have had to face the military men and equipment of America. Although Russia fought the majority of land battles against Germany, it was American men and equipment that helped Russia and Britain and other Allied nations to defeat Germany.
