Why did benjamin franklin create electricity?

Franklin's experiment was merely to prove that lightning was electricity, not to prove that electricity existed. Hence, the name "Father of Electricity" is inaccurate. Electricity was known to exist at least a century before Benjamin Franklin conducted his kite experiment; various mechanisms for the manipulation, creation and storage of electricity had been invented, such as static electricity generators and Leyden jars.

Benjamin Franklin did not indeed " create " electricity, though he preformed many experiments on it, such as, the Lightning Rod. Saying that he " created " it would be just plain wrong.
