  • Japan may have gotten started before everyone else, but that isn't what is usually looked on as the beginning of World War 2. It was really underway when Britain, France, Germany, and Italy all declared war on each other. Why didn't the US get involved initially? 1. The Great Depression, and 2. It wasn't our fight even after most of continental Europe had fallen.
AnswerPublic opinion did not feel a need to spill American blood in a war that was created by European countries going at it again...only 20 years after the last World War to boot!
