Because the British colonists were tired of Britain taxing them too much like the Stamp Act taxed their legal documents, and the Tea Act taxed the tea they brought.

Also they wanted to expand West into Native American territory and the British authorities would not let them do this because of the alliances Britain had with the Native tribes.
