The Chinese wanted foreigners to know how to make silk and porcelain as a strategic move to maintain their economic advantage in trade. By controlling the production of these highly sought-after goods, China could monopolize their export and maximize profits. Additionally, keeping the techniques secret allowed China to enhance its prestige and influence in global trade networks, ensuring that they remained a central player in international commerce. This desire to protect proprietary knowledge was crucial in preserving China's cultural and economic dominance.
It is not know exactly who invented Chinese porcelain. However, it first appeared during the Shang Dynasty close to Zhengzhou.
