Why is John Wilkes Booth important to the civil war?

The reunification the country did not go as well under President Andrew Johnson as it would have under President Lincoln, If President Lincoln had not been shot. President Johnson did not like Black people, and he was not in favor of civil rights as President Lincoln was.

John Wilkes Booth was significant in American history because five days after the Civil War ended he assassinated President Abraham Lincoln during a play. The play was at Ford's Theater in Washington, D.C. Lincoln died the next morning.
