Within the context of this question, equality among Americans means that all Americans have the same rights guaranteed to them under the US Constitution. These are "civil rights" and one can substitute equality with "fairness". Each American has access to pursue their economic, political and social goals under the law. It does not mean that Americans should be equal in wealth, for example. But all Americans have the rights to pursue being wealthy. Generally speaking, it can debated that the equality just written about would be good for the citizens of all nations. That, however, is an opinion.
