Charles de Gaulle was exiled from Canada because he encouraged the already huge separatist feelings in Quebec. In his famous speech at the Expo 67 he said "Vive le Montréal! Vive le Québec! Vive le Québec LIBRE!" which means: long live Montreal, long live Québec and Long live a free Québec!. This was not exactly appreciated by the Canadian prime minister at the time, Lester B. Pearson and so he was not allowed to ever return to Canada.

I hope that answered your question! :)
