Robert E. Lee was a Confederate general in the American Civil War. He developed tactics frequently enabling him to defeat a superior enemy in battle. He displayed brilliant strategy at the Battles of Chancellorsville, 2nd Bull Run, and Fredericksburg. (His biggest failure was Gettysburg.)

When the German generals planned World War 1, they studied the strategy used by the Confederate Generals: Robert E. Lee, Joseph E. Johnson, Stonewall Jackson, Albert Sidney Johnson, Jeb Stuart, Jubal Early, and Nathaniel Forest (Get there the firstest with the mostest.)
