An invading army often finds the war they are in to be had. The nationals hate them for destroying the countries culture and society, the foot soldiers don't know why they are there, they are likley to be killed (and most of the people will applaud their demise), the invading groups are subject to hardship from wounds, disease. assassination and betrayal by their own troops, the troops often offer from PTSD and enough shameful memories to ruin their life, the majority of the folks back home see them as monsters, returning home will be potentially a life of homelessness and drug dependance.
