Egyptians all held their religion as something very important. They would worship cats, the Nile River, the Pharoh (because it was belived that the Pharoh became a god when he was crowned), the sun, the moon, and various animals.

This was because there was traditionally terrible consequences for being unholy. After death, the Egyptians believed that their heart would be weighed on a scale with charms hanging on it. On the other side was the "Feather of Justice". If you put the charms you were buried with in the right places on the scale, you were admitted to paradise. If a heart was dirty (had done too much wrong or did not have favor with the gods) it would not be able to make the scale ballance. If this happened, you would be eaten by a monster who was part lion, part crocodile, and part hippo. You would then live in Egyptian Hell forever.

Egyptian Hell was vary bad. You didn't want to go there.

I hope this helps. Signed Laslo Freeman.
