Very cold & wet. Trenches were extremely miserable places to live in. Remember the trenches are mainly outdoors. Some trench lines had underground bunkers connected to them, that could be heated the old fashioned way.

Horrible! Lice and rates... trench foot... loads of diseases spreading around! you could get shell shock and that horrible thought that you could die at any second my a sniper.

life was very horrible and dirty there was a lot of rat and mud you would get trench foot from all the dirt
