Yes they coped the Greeks they only changed the gods names.
While the actual god was copied (mars is the Roman version of Aries, God of War), Romans did not use the same name.
They believed in the same gods as the greeks, except they had different names. Zeus was Jupiter, Posiden was Neptune, Hades was Pluto, Hera was Juno, Hermes was Mercury, Aphrodite was Venus, Ares was Mars. Dionysis was Bachus or something like that, Apollo was Apollo, Athena was Minerva, Hestia was Vesta, Hephestus was Vulcan.Romans believed in different gods. Initially they were not personified but after the contact of Greeks they adapted parts of Greek mythology. Jupiter was the Greek equivalent of Zeus, Mars - Ares, Neptune - Poseidon. Firstly Christians were punished and unaccepted in the Roman culture. Following 3 centuries this religion spread in Rome thus causing to become main religion of Romans.
:D Neither. Thor is the Norse god of thunder.

Mars, God of War
The Greeks, Babylonians, and Romans. They thought it was a moving star.
The planet Mars has a reddish color that reminded the ancient Greeks of blood, and hence, of war. The Romans adopted this idea from the Greeks.
Mars is named after the Roman god of war, because its bloodred colour is associated with battle and war. Mars is named for the ancient Roman god of war. The Romans copied the Greeks in naming the planet for a war god; the Greeks called the planet Ares (AIR eez). The Romans and Greeks associated the planet with war because its color resembles the color of blood. Viewed from Earth, Mars is a bright reddish-orange. It owes its color to iron-rich minerals in its soil. This color is also similar to the color of rust, which is composed of iron and oxygen.
He was called by the Greeks "Ares" well before the Romans called their Mars the same as Ares.
The Greeks first named the planet Ares because of its blood red color. The Romans followed suit, naming it Mars. There is no record of the first person to formally name it, however.
Jupiter, Mars, Mercury, Venus and Saturn
Mars was a Roman god, the counterpart of Greek Ares. They helped the Romans/Greeks to win battles.
the Greeks called their god of Aries. the Romans renamed him mars because of the red tint of the planet was a reminder of blood (Aries was a brutal warrior)
His Greek name was Ares. There are some people who think that Ares and Mars were two separate Gods, but in truth, the Romans ripped off most of the Gods and Goddesses from the Greeks.
Ares is the God of War for the Greeks where Mars is the same except for the Romans. The difference here is that Mars was more revered by the Romans, and Ares was more hated. Ares was the God of War, Murder, and Bloodshed. Mars was the God of War, Agriculture, and (I think) food. What I am trying to get at was that Mars is seen as a God of Life, while Ares is seen as a god of death. The Roman soldiers prayed to Mars to support them in battle and what not. Hope this helps!
Their gods are not much different then the Greeks gods. Jupiter Saturn Venus Mars Neptune Mercury Pluto Uranus and all the minor gods.
Mars is the Roman God of War and Ares is the Greek God of War and Bloodshed. Though they differ in name, they are just the same God of war and only differs to what the Romans and Greeks believe in.
