Previously, the Austrian and Hungarian armies had themselves been routed by the Ottomans at the Battle of Mohacs.

The area now known as the Republic of Turkey was the centre of the Ottoman Empire. The Ottoman Empire existed from 1299-1923 and stretched over Southeast Europe, Western Asia, the Caucasus, North Africa, and the Horn of Africa.
The Ottoman empire is not ancient, it is late medieval. And it traded with all over Asia and Europe, so there are a menagerie of goods that the Ottoman Empire imported.
