For the Christians, only the First Crusade was successful, as they managed to claim the holy Land. However, this was soon reclaimed by the Muslims and the next six-seven Crusades were the christians trying to, unsuccessfully, claim back the land.
hi, the crusades were to try and regain the cuppy cupcakes from the poo monster.
The total amount of crusades there was 8. The whole point in the crusades was pretty much trying to take over the holy land. Kings, nobles, knights, peasants (serfs), and towns people where involved in the crusades.
Well in a posative way it made people come to peace, understand each other and be more multicultural. However despite the differences they have settled, lots of muslims deni that the crusades ever happened or it wasnt the muslims fault! ( im a christian not trying to be racist). I also learned in school that the pope was telling christians that if you fight you get forgiven, and the muslims were dehuminising the christians... thanx xxx.

Win control of the Holy Lands, the background to the Bible, and in particular the Holy City, Jerusalem itself. Medieval Christians saw it as a great sin to have such sacred places held by "heathens".
The Crusades were started because the the Muslims, Christians, and Jews all share the Holy Land of Israel, and the first crusade occured because the Christians were trying to recapture the holy land.

Yes. In fact there is a case I am currently trying to find in which Muslims killed around 3,000 christians before Richard's slaughter of the 1,000 Muslims. Both sides killed each other....as was often the case of war during those times.
Christians participated in the Crusades in order to regain access to the Holy Land in Jerusalem. They were also trying to stop the spread of Islam.Pope Urban II said if they went on the Crusade to fight for Christianity they would have a free pass to heaven.
The Crusades, which lasted from 1095 to the late 1500's, were holy wars between Christians in the West and Muslims in the Middle East, in which both sides sought to capture Jerusalem, or the Holy Ground. In 1099 the Christians were able to capture Jerusalem, and afterward there were continual holy wars in which the Muslims attempted to recapture the land while the Christians defended it.
Most of the crusades we think of were wars with Christians on one side and Muslims on the other, so the answer would be Christianity and Islam. There were other crusades, however, with other religious intent. The Albigensian Crusade was one of several against Christian heretics. The Hussite Crusade was against protestants (Catholic vs. Protestant). There were crusades against pagans (Christian vs. pagan), and there were crusades against Mongol hordes (Christian vs. Mongol). There was even one crusade, the Aragonese Crusade, which was really a war between the Pope and the King of Aragon over possession of land.
