The game of checkers, also known as draughts, is believed to have originated in ancient Egypt, but its modern version was developed in France during the 12th century. The French variant, "Dames," laid the groundwork for what would become popular in Europe. By the 15th century, the game spread to England and other countries, evolving into different regional variations.
Probably the people of Ur, the most ancient of civilizations, around 5,000 years ago. Games very much like checkers were also played by the ancient Egyptians and the Romans.
The Industrial Revolution.
Checkers has been around since ancient times. Specifically, one of its ancestors was the game called alquerque. This game is known to have been played as far back as 600 B.C. But its board boasted 25 squares, with each square being crossed by diagonals. In contrast, the modern game of checkers uses a 65-square board in the United States of America, and a 100-square board in Europe.
The renaissance spread to northern Europe by, when the renaissance started in Italy spread over to northern Europe and lands on the Middle East and Africa.

The Renaissance started in Florence, Italy and spread from there.
In a standard game of checkers, each player starts with three rows of checkers. The pieces are set up on the dark squares of the first three rows closest to each player. This setup totals 12 checkers per player, positioned on the first three rows of their respective sides of the board.
It started in Spain :) It first started in Asia, but then it went to Europe. It started up again in India in 1900's but they made a cure for it

The difference between checkers and Chinese checkers is that Chinese checkers are used with marbles.
Gangs started in Europe long ago, probably Western Europe. United Kingdom is the highest possibility.
