Well festivals makes us feel great about the time we spend together on its pretext but thinking locally would definitely make oneself realise the disadvantages of festivals. India is not devoid of pollution. It's one of the major challenges that our country faces today. Music may be peaceful and harmonious to ears but excess of anything would damage. Noise pollution reaches it peak during festivals like Diwali, Ganesh Chaturthi etc. The roads are spoilt by colour papers, flowers, food and other material strewn all over. Huge processions held during festival seasons add to traffic jam problems. Ganesh Chaturthi creates water contamination while immersion. More goats and hens are killed in the name of God as a sacrificial offering. As said before, overdoing of anything would lead to extremes. Religious possisiveness increases and the concept of Our-Religion-Is-Great crops up, may be not revealed but somewhere in the minds of people this thought ponders its way through. Well would get back if i find more in detail!
