What do we do in lent?

Lent it not only celebrated as individual humans but in the church as well.Generally during the season of lent you should notice a change of color in thr robes the priest wear during church. Most of the hymes you sing during the sermen contain the word "Alleluia". During the season of lent the priest will stop saying alleluia. After the breaking of the bread the priest only says christ our lord is sacrified for us instead of singing a song because that song contains alleluia. There are many more subtle changes that i have failed to noticebut i know they are there.

Lent starts 6 weeks before Easter Sunday. The first day of Lent is known as Ash Wednesday Ash Wednesday, many Christians attend church services where the sign of the cross is made on their forehead with special ash.

Lent is also a time when many Christians choose to give up something they like.

The Eastern Orthodox and Oriental Orthodox Churches also observe the season of Lent. Many modern Protestant Churches consider the observation of Lent to be a choice, rather than an obligation.

The altar frontal, all hangings and vestments are purple or unbleached linen to symbolise the penitential nature of the season. The Gloria isn't sung, there is no use of the word Hallelujah, the Kyries may be sung. There are no flowers or decoration and a somber feeling is kept at all times.
