There are a lot of different trees that are used for Christmas trees, and there are regional variations. For example, where I live Douglas firs (Pseudotsuga menziesii) are popular. Some others are blue spruce (Picea pungens), eastern white pine (Pinus strobus), frasier fir (Abies frasieri), scotch pine (Pinus sylvestris), and white spruce (Picea glauca). In India, it is generally Araucaria, that gives a perfect conical shape even in the tropical climate hence, largely used as a Christmas tree.
